The how's and the why's

We have officially moved into the "WHYS" with our daughter. She is not yet three and oh so curious. She seems need to know in extreme detail about everything. I love this, but how long can you explain the story of Jonah. For some reason she has been intrigued by the story of Jonah for quite some time. She can tell me the story backwards and forwards but still she continues to ask....
"Mom, why Jonah get swallowed by the whale?"
"Because he disobeyed God" I always say
"Why he disobey God ?" she says
"Because he made a bad choice"
"Why the whale spit him out?"
"Because God gave Jonah a second chance"I tell her
"Like when I don't eat my lunch, and then I get a consequence but then I get another chance" She say's
"Yep, just like that. Being swallowed by the whale was Jonah's consequence"
"I don't wan't to have to get swalled by a whale Mom"
"Then you better eat your lunch" I say
"But,why did God give Jonah a second chance?'
And so this goes on for a very looong time. And it does not get her to eat lunch either. As I said before I love this and I love that she can find the way to relate her own life to this story. Pretty good for a not quite three year old.

SIMPLFY

Has anyone ever thought Blogging was a little pretentious. It feels that way to me, (no offense to other Bloggers.I don't think you are pretentious) It's just why does anyone care what I have to say! I know that sounds very ugly and I don't mean it to sound as pitiful as it does. I do like the aspect of reaching out to family and friends who if I did not have this blog might not know what was going on with me. So with that, today it's about SIMPLIFYING! I bought this little wood sign and it reads SIMPLIFY. Of course I love it, but what does that mean because the truth is we all love stuff. I mean who dosen't love stuff. Clothes,cars,toys,computers,motorcycles,ipods,shoes,etc....Let me tell you I love to shop but when does wanting things become a problem. If I'm living on a ranch in the middle of nowhere, does that mean I'm simplifying? Not really. See, the problem is this: We wan't to own nice things, but not have the nice things own us. When do we break the love of things cycle. How do we teach our children to rise above this but still be realistic. Because let's face it we are living in the 2007's and not being a little materialistic might be asking just a little too much. I guess it's a peace of mind thing, to be happy without all the stuff but to feel blessed with what you do have. I wan't to see beyond the " keeping up " theory, and I wan't my daughter to also see beyond. I wan't life to just be SIMPLER.

I'll tell you why it's"a different world"

We have been called crazy, brave, weird, pioneers, and just plain stupid. Personally, I like pioneers the best although there have been a few times I questioned our sanity. If you don't know me im the blog formerly known as millionoaks. My family & I have recently moved to that millionoaks, so now we are living "a different world" As you can see from my pictures the view is amazing, even my daughter notices the amazing sunrises. I have to say it's not all rolling hills and beautiful sunrises. It's also generators, propane and wells. It is a different way of living, sometimes challenging(like when your pipes freeze and you have no water) My husband & I have overcome some small hurdles already, like where we are living. We live in an OLD,run down trailer that he made livable. We have two elderly horses to keep us company and a dog that chases the dear all day long.As I said before the view from our window is amazing,We feel so blessed to live here.
